Our Approach To Design
At Atlanta Bookshelves we believe and stand by a consultative approach. We believe that a successful project should start with a great vision and design. Atlanta Bookshelves listens to your ideas, vision and then we consult with you on budget and materials to deliver that masterpiece you are looking for.

Perfectly Suited
We meet each customer’s needs by closely working with them on every design. We have the skill set to offer you options such as doors and drawers to provide areas of closed storage as well as open display shelving of any depth. We will incorporate your existing mantle into your design as well as offer ideas to enhance it. Alternatively, your dream office can be created by simply incorporating desk space.
Our Material
All of our cases are build using a 3/4" 13 layer, cabinet grade birch plywood, never any particle board. The advantage of using plywood are many. In each layer the grain is rotated 90 degrees giving it greater strength across all directions, less susceptible to warping, expansion and shrinkage. Because plywood is bonded with grains running against one another and with an odd number of composite parts, it is very hard to bend it perpendicular to the grain direction of the surface ply. We then cover all these layers with 3/4" solid poplar for painted projects giving the plywood even greater strength. We finish all of our projects with a kitchen grade pre-catalyzed lacquer. Lacquer dries faster and harder than latex paint. This created a durable finish that is easy to clean and resist scuffing and marring. If you have ever had bookshelves that decorative items and books stick to the shelves they were painted with latex; lacquer doesn't do this because it dries much harder. Lacquer can be tinted to any color you prefer, typically we match your existing trim color.
